About Me

WITH DERRICK TAN

The Early Years

Started my career in estate management with the Housing & Development Board (HDB) after graduating from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Science (Real Estate) (Honours) Degree. Moved on to township management, helping a new player to successfully win the tender and smoothly took over from the incumbent managing agent for a town council.

The early years provided me with an excellent opportunity to work with people from all walks of life, from HDB heartlanders, contractors, grassroots leaders to Members of Parliament, honing my interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Career Change

After a fruitful career in estate and township management, the young and restless me decided to explore the investment sales and consultancy aspect of real estate. I was fortunate to be a part of Credo Real Estate, a boutique firm specialising in collective and land sales. It was a steep learning curve as I had zero relevant working experience then. With sheer grit and great mentorship from the bosses, we grew from strength to strength to be a market leader amongst the big boys. Till today, we still hold the record for the largest residential collective sale transaction ($1.3388 billion) for the former Farrer Court (current D’Leedon).

I subsequently moved on to Savills Singapore, an international real estate advisory and consultancy firm where I added commercial buildings & spaces as well as conservation shophouses to my portfolio. Over there, I was part of the team who still hold the record for the largest commercial collective sale transaction ($400 million) for the former Serangoon Plaza (current Centrium Square). Working with collective sale owners, commercial & residential land owners, high net worth individuals, developers, REITS, home offices and lawyers have definitely broadened my horizon and given me a holistic view of the Singapore real estate market.

Current Mission

After some time in corporate real estate, I decide to transit to the self-employed world of a realtor. It was a decision by choice, as my twins were entering primary school then. Having helped many collective sale owners realise their enbloc gains, I also decided to embark on this journey to assist individuals, young couples and families to transform their lives, within the best of my abilities.
