My Family's Real Estate
Investment Journey

My first matrimonial home was an Executive Condominium, located in a far corner of Singapore, which appreciated in value after privatisation. My family is very grateful that it has helped us make our very first pot of gold and coupled with our savings along the way, subsequently enabled us to invest in local and foreign properties. We are fortunate to currently own 2 new projects awaiting completion for our own stay as well as investment.

Our humble journey has made me realized some important points which I’ve been sharing with others:

1. It is critical to start with the right property purchase

2.The location itself is not the most important; the demand & supply as well as transformation in that location matters more

3. It is only by realizing our gains and reinvesting that we can continue to build up our portfolio to hedge against inflation and bolster our retirement funds.

Another important sharing which I always share is this…my first enbloc deal in 2005 was a freehold project in River Valley area. The land price then was ~$600 psf ppr. Today, at that price, developers probably can only purchase an Executive Condominium site! That’s how much land prices have gone up over a short span of time

The key point here is to start
your real estate journey early!
